Every individual deserves a home in which they feel comfortable. They shouldn’t worry about being injured or encountering restrictions of use throughout their space. Through design features that maximize independence, Modified Living Spaces customizes solutions that bring functionality to each individual’s home living space. Our process includes gathering insights from the family, caregivers, and professionals. Modified Living Spaces is dedicated to guiding individuals through the process of home modification using the county waiver program. We offer both home modification assessments and project coordination to help facilitate a seamless experience for all parties during the process.
Home modification is a covered service under the Environmental Accessibility Adaptations (EAA) waiver service. EAA is available to people eligible for one of the following waivers:
- Brain Injury Waiver (BI)
- Community Alternative Care Waiver (CAC)
- Community Access for Disability Inclusion Waiver (CADI)
- Developmental Disabilities Waiver (DD)
- Elderly Waiver (EW)
- Alternative Care (AC) Program
When an individual’s ability to move throughout their home is limited, modifications can increase safety, improve accessibility, maximize independence, and promote ease of caregiving. Working together we can turn a challenge into an opportunity or a barrier into a possibility. We restore dignity, purpose, and increase energy for more meaningful interests. Examples of modifications include:
- Low rise steps and handrails
- Door widening
- Ramps, stair lifts, or platform lifts
- Bathroom modifications
- Grab bars
- Specialized plumbing and electrical modifications
- Hard surface flooring
- Kitchen modifications
More and more we see families reaching out for assistance presented by the challenges of autism. Frequently, these challenges relate to sensory needs and associated behaviors. Together, we address issues with elopement, aggression, personal safety, and prevention of recurring property damage. Examples of modifications may include:
- Monitoring technology and alert systems
- Fences
- Window protection
- Shatterproof fixtures and mirrors
- Solid core doors
- Wall pads
- Impact resistant walls
- Bathroom modifications
- Toilets with overflow protection.
- Moisture resistant flooring
- Sensory rooms
